Thai Ammavasai is the first Amavasi of Utharayanam (the period when Sun moves Northwards). On January 30, 2014, Theertha Vaari was performed at Sarayu Pushkarni (Temple tank).

Makara Sankaranthi (Harvest Festival) was celebrated at Vaduvur Kothandaramaswamy Temple on January 14th. 

On January 15th, Kanu Pidi was done by Thayar (Sita Pirati) at Saruyu Pushkarni (Temple tank)
